Shorter investments in years#153

J

Trine has a tendency of longer investment periods e.g. 5,7,9 years. I prefer 1,2 year investment horizon. This would increase my personal activity.

Thanks for the feedback — much appreciated.

You’re right, many Trine investments have longer durations (5–9 years), which reflects the nature of solar financing. We fund growth and to build long term assets, not just for short-term costs, and while assets last up to 25 years, investors usually get their invested money back in 3 to 7 years.

If you’re looking for shorter terms, our Stride product offers loans up to 2 years, which may suit your goals better.

We also spend a lot of time checking each project carefully to make sure it’s safe to invest in. That’s harder to do with short-term loans, since the return is smaller and time is limited. Also, short-term loans often don’t have strong assets behind them, which makes them riskier — and we try to avoid that.

That said, we’re actively exploring shorter-term opportunities that meet our criteria. Thanks again for your helpful input!

Since Trine has not yet fully invstigated if, and how, to make a second hand market for investments, and I already decided to have active investments no longer than until year 2030, from now I can only invest in short term projects. So shorter duration of new investments is currently my preferred alternative, unless I should withdraw available balance to make my investments elsewhere.
Thanks.
