Invest in developed economies#20

I absolutely love the opportunity to invest in both climate solutions and developing economies, but given the issues you’re currently having with finding projects, I’d much rather invest in projects closer to home than none at all. After all, any investment in renewable energy will ultimately help the entire world, while money sitting idle is just lost potential. And as soon as you’re able to vet projects in developing economies, I’d prefer you to go back to doing that, of course.

Also you could consider plantation of a combination of trees for logging/nature restore/ forrage or harvest. To prevent dessertification, maybe in collaboration with Viskogen. That providing loans for the investments.

Another field to explore for Trine could be projects related to providing access to clean drinking water.

I fully agree with these comments, but I think they are more pertinent to suggestion #15 ;)

Also, solar projects in Europe/US/Japan/Australia/etc would give us a risk diversification. Although the interest is lower in these markets, I would probaby add significantly to my Trine investments. It’s definitely not just one or the other.

Vote this up or down? I don’t know.
Yes, it would be nice to have more safe options via Trine.
But would that really be Trine’s “core business”?
Possibly, maybe, perhaps, occasional cooperation with existing alternatives, such as etsol.se, etcbygg.se, switchr.global
… or maybe not. I don’t know.

Trine’s mission seems to be “For people, for planet, for profit”.

The 20% poorest in the world emit 2.5% of the CO2. Helping them replacing inconvenient and polluting technologies is beneficial for a large number of people. But for the planet, the whole range of societies need to be transformed. The 10% richest emit around half of all CO2, and without attracting capital to that too, it is hard to turn the ship around. Using Trine’s brand and reputation to expand the business into making a dent in the global CO2 emissions seems like low-hanging fruit.

If you have a look on the electricity map, you see two countries in Europe with really extremly high emissions. Kosovo and Poland. Why not investing there?

GiveDirectly is a charity that has worked for a very long time in developing countries. Recently they decided to also start working in the US.

They’ve written about why, and how it has helped them raise a lot more money, even for their regular work, in this text, which might be interesting for you in considering this request: https://www.givedirectly.org/why-the-usa/

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestions. Trine’s focus remains on investing in emerging markets. Our platform makes it easy for anyone to invest in loans to renewable energy entrepreneurs, creating direct positive impacts on both people and the planet, while also earning a return.

This mission aligns with our current goals, but we appreciate your input and will keep it in mind as we continue to grow.

Best wishes,

Liz
